Carsten Unger studied feature film direction from 2001-2007 at the Film Academy in Baden-Wuerttemberg. He also took part in the masterclass “The Hollywood Perspective” at UCLA in Los Angeles in 2004. During his studies he wrote and directed numerous short films and completed his studies with his graduation film “The Blue Ape”, a co-production with Hessichen Rundfunk. In 2011 Carsten directed his debut feature film “Bastard”, a cinema co-production with SWR. “Bastard” opened the 47th Hof International Film Festival, and was screened at many more film festivals including 15th IFF Shanghai, 9th IFF Chennai and at MoMa in New York. The film has won many prizes including Best Screenplay at Liege and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Film Prize in 2011. In April 2013, “Bastard” was on general theatrical release across Germany. Presently, Carsten is developing his feature film “Radio Zohra”, developed with MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg, as well as the screenplay for “The Noble Jacques”.
