Sonja Romei

Sonja Romei was born in 1973 in Lower Austria, the daughter of an Austrian and a Turkish guestworker. The gap between the double cultures, backgrounds and faiths with which she grew up, soon led to a quest for self-expression through creative activities in theatre and music.
Her vocal training as a singer led eventually to a sideways step into acting. Since qualifying as a singer, she has worked as a freelance actress in theatre film and television, in Austria and Germany.
Music has always been at the heart of her work. Her most recent album with her band Lorelei Lee was supported by the Austrian Music Fund.
She has always had a cinematic approach to her music, and this led naturally to her desire to put her film ideas onto the page.
