Iliana Estañol was born in Mexico City. She studied Film Direction at the University of the Arts in Zürich (ZHdK) and at the prestigious International Filmschool in Cuba (EICTV), as well as Experimental Film & Media at the University of the Arts in Berlin (UDK). Since 2002 she has made several films as a screenwriter, director and producer, which have been shown at international film festivals around the world. “Nordland”, her first feature film as a producer, was premiered in 2014 at Filmkunst Fest in Germany.
In 2013 Iliana and Johanna founded the production company Silverio Productions and in the same year they produced Iliana’s theatre debut Momentum Playground at the renowned theatre Gessnerallee in Zurich. They are currently developing the screenplays „XOXO“, „EL TIO JULIAN“ and an experimental documentary.
